La vocación escénica del dramaturgo, muy temprana y en cualquier caso anterior a la Guerra Civil, se vio frustrada por las circunstancias de su exilio, primero en México y luego en Estados Unidos, donde no resultaba fácil el estreno de sus obras. Y aunque es indudable que la excelencia literaria del escritor se halla en su narrativa, su teatro, tan poco estudiado hasta hoy, no merece ni el silencio ni el olvido. Esta edición quiere reparar esa injusticia y contribuir a un mejor conocimiento de su obra total.
