A finales de 1762 un ilustrado escribió en Santa Cruz de Tenerife un documento integrado por seis “correos” que tituló Correo de Canarias. Se presenta el primero como contestación a la Estafeta de Londres de Mariano Nipho. Con el suceder de los Correos tal reflexión alcanza profundidades de Memoria, y deviene en propuesta de proyecto elaborado con el conocimiento profundo de los hechos y desde la realidad de los datos; una respuesta y una propuesta que pudo ser enviada al Gobierno central desde la Provincia canaria. Hasta ahora, el Correo de Canarias permanecía inédito en El Museo Canario, entidad a la que llegó al final de la década de los setenta del pasado siglo. La Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria se ha involucrado en esta edición con la intención de añadir nueva luz al conocimiento de una etapa tan interesante de nuestro pasado histórico y patrimonial. Abstract At the end of 1762, an enlightened writer in Santa Cruz de Tenerife wrote a document integrated by six mails which he entitled Correo de Canarias. The first one is presented as a response to Mariano Nipho’s Mail of London. With the following ones, his reflection reaches the consideration of Memory, and becomes a project proposal elaborated with the profound knowledge of the facts and reality of the data; a response and a proposal which could have been sent to the central Government from the Canary province. The Correo de Canariashad remained unpublished up to the present moment in the Museo Canario, entity where it arrived by the end of the sixties decade in the past century. The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been involved in this edition with the intention of shedding some light on the knowledge of such an important stage of our historical and patrimonial past.
