  • ¿La decoración geométrica sobre soporte cerámico puede emitir mensajes ideológicos y contribuir a legitimar y reforzar los cambios sociales? ¿Existe un lenguaje geométrico que pueda analizarse, caracterizarse y contribuir al conocimiento de las sociedades iberas? La cerámica ibérica con decoración geométrica del Alto Guadalquivir reivindica la exigencia de un fenómeno apenas tratado en la investigación arqueológica ibera: la decoración, el lenguaje y, por extensión, los estilos geométricos. Estructurado en dos volúmenes (Vol. I. Territorios, estilos e identidades iconográficas (siglos VI a.n.e.- I d.n.e.); Vol. II. Catálogo iconográfico), se analiza esta iconografía desde una triple perspectiva: 1) como fuente para conocer los patrones de regularidad, los cambios estilísticos y los distintos procesos de estetización de estas sociedades; 2) como medio para investigar las estructuras económicas y socioculturales en las que se integran; y 3) como método para profundizar en el conocimiento de las identidades sociales, así como en los mecanismos simbólicos de presentación y representación del mundo. Is there a geometric language that can be analyzed, characterized, and contribute to the knowledge of Iberian societies? This work vindicates the existence of a phenomenon barely explored in Iberian archaeological research: decoration, language, and, by extension, geometric styles. Structured in two volumes (Vol. I: Territorios, estilos e identidades iconográficas (siglos VI a.n.e.- I d.n.e.) Vol. II: Catálogo iconográfico), this iconography is analyzed from a triple perspective: 1) as a source to understand the patterns of regularity, stylistic changes, and the different processes of aestheticization of these societies; 2) as a mean to investigate the economic and socio-cultural structures in which they are integrated; and 3) as a method for gaining a deeper understanding of social identities, as well as the symbolic mechanisms of presentation and representation of the world.
