El nebot de Rameau és un diàleg apassionant entre un filòsof (jo) i un personatge sense escrúpols (ell), el nebot del cèlebre compositor Jean-Philippe Rameau. Diderot va considerar massa arriscada la publicació d’aquesta obra en vida i la va mantenir amagada fins a la seva mort. No va ser fins al 1804 que Goethe es va interessar per aquest text inèdit i el va traduir a l’alemany. A partir d’aleshores, l’interès per El nebot de Rameau no ha deixat de créixer i ha captivat pensadors com Hegel o Foucault. Un autèntic clàssic del pensament nihilista que, en forma de diàleg «antiplatònic», planteja el problema dels límits de les Llums.
