Influido por las tradiciones místicas y esotéricas, Jouve es uno de los máximos representantes europeos de la poesía entendida como una aventura del espíritu. Murió en París en 1976. El poeta español Carlos Edmundo de Ory, que trató a Jouve en París, vuelca en estas versiones todo su saber lírico y rinde su particular homenaje a la obra del gran poeta francés.
